Shoreline protection, sometimes referred to as Coastal protection, refers to protecting against flooding and erosion along the shoreline of lakes and rivers. This includes groynes, sea walls, revetments, rock armor, gabions, breakwaters, cliff stabilization, retaining walls, and floodgates.
